Any S4 he can buy now is going to be cheaper than an STi.

Default I prefer the STI (displacement)-Turbo isn't being pushed as hard stock for max power

The Evo is making a ton of boost to push the 2.0 near 300 hp

Default STI is 30 grand... he can find a used S4 for less, I bet.

As to which he'd prefer... impossible to say without knowing what he wants. All out performance in a tin can? Or very strong performance with some luxury?

I'd personally never get an STI except as a dedicated track car. And for that purpose, there are other cars I'd rather have (Caterham!)
