Suspension install annoyance, ideas needed

Suspension install annoyance, ideas needed
I'm preparing to install my new Vogtland SR GT coilovers this weekend. I already picked up the nuts & bolts that I'm not reusing, etc.
I was gathering my tools and I noticed that the top nut on the shock piston for the GTs is 19mm. This is great except that I have a perfectly good VAG 3353 (see link) that is useless to me because the stock nut is 18mm.
It seems that Vogtland is not alone in doing this. WTF?
So, how am I supposed to torque the top nut? Anyone have any clever way I can employ my existing socket in combination with something else to do it?
Anyone see a reason why I shouldn't find an 18mm nut with the right thread pitch (stock is different) and use it in place of the one provided?
Any other ideas? I should add that, yes, I know that my last alternative is to just crank it on there with vice grips and a socket and guess at the torque. I'm kinda A.R., though. ;-)

Tool

Hey, Mike, when replacing suspension (all 4) how many bump stops and bushings are needed?...
I see that you guys carry them. Is it just one pair of each (bump stops and bushings) which take care of just the front shocks? Or do the rears need them too? I forget - been so long since I installed! Thanks!

That's fine, until the vice grips start slipping.
Then you have no idea what torque you're putting on the nut. And sometimes it's not enough to loosen the nut.
