Take the money or keep the car
Here is the tough choice: Ship my beloved 2001 S4 that I have owned since 2001 out to Seattle from Indiana or take the $5,000 my dad has offered to keep it. Need some guidance from fellow forum owners. What do you think?
Option 1: Keep the Car
Pros
-Had it for eight years, love it
-Paid off, no car payment
Cons
-It has 105,000 miles and I have little money for large maintenance fixes
-Used to do maintenance myself (changed timing belt) but now have no garage or tools
-Gotta pay $1,000 or so to ship
Option 2: Sell to my Dad for $5,000
Pros
-Can put $5,000 toward lease or new car
-No worries on car breaking
Cons
-Will not be able to afford an equal or better car
-Whatever I get will suck in comparison (Honda Fit or something just as cheap)

Definitely number 1. 5K for your car, thats nuts. Your right, you'll not even be able to get a car of that caliber for 5K leasing or buying. I had to make that same choice, sort of, when the wife blew my engine in my 2001 Avant. Decided to keep it. Any other car that I could afford right now will not live up to the Audi. I dont feel like spending 30K for a Mazda or Subaru for a sporty wagon that will feel cheap inside.

no doubt #1. anythong you get will certainly be a downgrade. your dad still has his fingers crossed that youll say yes to his deal. try to store it at his place till you can drive it to WA...take both keys
