Default Test driving autos...the WRX is...umm...slow (m)???

Ok, finally broke down and drove a WRX (Acura RSX Type-S too). Went to Balboa Suburu in SD...they had about 70 WRX's on their lot (more than any other type). They are selling these cars like accords and camry's in SD. I think people walk in and want to step up to something "sporty". Yeah...right.

Car I drove had a factory installed short throw shifter and boost gage (hello Audi...would be nice). Shifter was tight but alot of friction (car only had about 10 miles on it). On the test drive, I was very disappointed with the engine...I thought the thing was broken until the sales guy said (doing 60 on the highway) shift to 3rd and bring it all the way to 90. Ah, the power up higher than the S...still disappointing. Not so much a feel of acceleration, just a gathering of speed. Handling was pretty nice (I think my S may need alignment and wheels balanced).

Keep in mind, I drive a chipped S daily, so maybe I am spoiled...but my stock MR2 turbo felt much faster and quicker to spoil. The S in feel (and numbers too) simply blows the car away. Maybe this one was broken (then again, the sales guy seemed impressed). The interior was not too bad...good for a $25K car.

The RSX on the other hand is great. Shifter is best I have ever felt (except maybe S2000). Engine is flawless (love the high RPM wind). Handles great. The interior was very nice...real climate control, in dash 6 CD, leather, sunroof, Bose stero with sub in trunk (neat place too, the tire well). I think the Type-T may be looking good for 2004.
