Default They detected the chip despite the fact I'm running stock today...

I checked in my S4 at Anderson-Behel, CA today. I switched the chip to stock a few days ago for this dealer checkup. However, the Asst. Service Manager told me that they may void the warranty on the engine if I keep running with chipped. He said that their Tool s/w detected "over-rev" of my engine.

Am I switching back to stock? Nuh. They already know mine's chipped, and the right turbo may fail regardless chipped or stock. If it goes down, I'll pay for it. Does anybody know how much I need to save money for turbo replacement?

Not too bad if it's the price of a pair. Thanks.

Default Did you over-rev on the tiptronic???

I didn't think tip-chips would let you do that...

I guess ECU has priority. It bumps up rev-limit.

Default Very strange. Aren't error codes saved onto the ECU?

So wouldn't swapping the ECU "move" your error codes with them? Unless you overreved on your stock chip, this seems unlikely. (Or do you have a socketted and you just switched the chip itself?)

Default Tell them to do it anyways, and to realize that these turbos are failing because of oiling problems.

It's gotta be out there in a Service bulletin somewhere.

Yes, I switched the socketted chip itself. I should have switched the whole ECU box.

Does anyone know if there is ANY way for them to tell if you switch the whole ECU?
