Default Thinking about getting my car wet sanded.Anything you guys feel you need to fill me in on, please do

My swirl marks are terrible. And the paint has lost much of the glassy shine it had 1 year ago. Ive heard people say that they have had their car wet sanded and cut. what does the "cut" mean? those people also said the difference before and after is night and day. is this wetsanding an easy procedure that your average body shop can perform? How much do you guys think it would cost? TIA!

Default Try spending a day detailing it first.

Might just need a good claybar.

Default Gets a Porter Cable 7424 (I believe thats that model) and Menzerna

Intensive Polish and Finishing Polish then your favorite wax. Should have AWESOME results. Wet sand shouldn't be done unless you have absolutely tried EVERYTHING else.

Default Wetsanding and Cutting (harsh rubbing compound) should be LAST resorts...

They are both very detramental to the longevity of your paint.

Theoretically, it would be like ripping off your clear coat, or a heavy portion of it.

I would NOT reccomend this.

If you paint is that bad, take it to a good body shop and pay for a good detail.

Additionally, do not just go out and buy a high speed buffer. You have to have experience with these machines, else you will burn right through your paint and expose bare metal.

Have a body shop look at your paint. They can help with the determination of how bad it is.

Claybar is an excellent tool, that is easy to use.

There are some very good detailing FAQ's running around here. Search for them and try those steps. You'll be amazed how much you can do by yourself.
