Default thinking about swapping my 00 s4 for a b6 a4

love my 00 s4 tip, but I do not need all of those ponies for a commuter. So I am looking for a b6 a4 4 banger to swap.

Are there any nasty TSB's to look out for on a b6? If anyone has any insight on a4 b6's in general, please chime in.

BTW, my s4 has mods for dependability:
ko4's
piggies
forge bv's
sanco tbb
twin 2 exhaust

Default If you don't "need all those ponies", the 1.8t A4 won't disappoint. What a dog.

Haven't driven one with a chip, however.

Default be careful...

Stepping into a 1.8T from a K04'd S4 might not be the best choice. While you might not need the power all the time, I'm sure you'd like some every once in a while. As mentioned, the stock 1.8T is slow. Yes, you can chip it, but you'll find it's a rather high strung animal compared to your S4, and it still won't hold a candle with just a chip. If that leaves you looking for a little more power, the next step is going to start draining your wallet quickly...and you'll still be left with sh!tty brakes.

What I'm saying is...if you're prepared to live with a slow car, get it. But if you think for a minute you'll want some semblence of power, that quest may leave you spending a good bit of coin.

Default Haha, indeed. A friend of mine bought a 04 1.8tqms under my suggestion...

He said "you're sure we can make this thing fast, right?"

Two days later we were at AWE getting code loaded in the thing, with paper tags on the car A week after that we were bolting up a full exhaust.

It goes pretty good now.

Default 2nd the slowness of the 1.8, I had a b6 1.8 for a loaner

while my S4 was in for service. You had to have the thing screaming just to get any throttle response. It is very disappointing for just average power. I would drive one or find a rental company that you might be able to rent one for a few days and drive it first. test drive at dealer is not enough of an indicator as to how slow they really are!
