To those that replaced their seats...what to do to turn off the air bag light
I am seriously think about replacing both front seats but don't want the air bag system to be turned off completely or for the air bag light to stay on. Does anyone have something so that the air bag system and light still work correctly?
Also what seats do you all recommend? Am thinking of getting the Sparco Milano 2 seats any good or bad comments on these. Not looking to spend over $1000 on each seat. What are some of the light seats?
I did a search on air bag and found out that a guy that goes by AudiWorld user name of Sonny knows how to defeat the system and light. You out there Sonny...
Thanks

Need VAG COM or 1551 tool. If that doesn't work, you could complete the circuit? ...
With a wire? Dummy plug? I dunno. The airbag ECU needs to communicate with that component during initial startup checks, so "fooling" it somehow with a connector might not work, but you could try.

Re: on the search this is what I found
To connect two wires, not the brown one of the 3 wire plug with a 1/4 watts - 5 ohm resistor
look at this picture. the wires are diferent colors in every car. basically theres one wire all alone on one side, and 2 wires right next to eachother on the other side of the same clip (the clip you want to be working with is the pink and yellow one).
insert the end of the resistor with the yellow ring into the centermost of the 2 paired wires i mentioned. insert the brown end of the same resistor in closer of the pair to the edge of the clip.
thats about as atriculate as i can be, don't get bogged down with colors of the wires... just make it look like this pic.
Basically, disregard the wire colors in this pic cause your colors may be different, but this configuration will work.
Couldn't get the picture...(S4Pwr)

Re: on the search this is what I found
From what I read in AESIS......
Coding tables for airbag 8 systems ('99 & up), are codings 00104, 106, 304, & 306. All 4 of these include the side airbags & front tensioners(I assume you're trying to cheat the side airbags?).
Before this, there was '97 - '99, which used different codings. They had side airbag options as well, but also had some without. These were coded:
00002 - front airbags & front belt tensioners
00004 - front airbags, front belt tensioners, 2 rear tensioners
00006 - front airbags, front tensioners, 3 rear tensioners.
Now, I'm not telling you to do it, but if you wanted to try it, see if your airbag module is coded with the third digit as a "1", and change it to "0". If it doesn't work, change it back. It also may come up with a "incorrect coding" DTC, which will also set an airbag light off.
IIRC, you can also short the circuit with a 1.8 ohm resistor or something? 3 ohm? I forget, but don't try to use a multimeter to test the airbags for resistance!! You'll blow them!
