i think the S/W is pretty much free, you are actually paying for the cable.

Default Not totally true....

If you buy UWE's stuff, you get a cable and a license for the software. The software can run in a demo mode which basically allows you to recode your locks and view a couple of codes. When you register the software you get full functionality. BUT, the unlock code generated for the software is machine specific.

You would have to buy two versions of the software.

Default damn, that is kinda useless to have the software and not have the cable...

we might not be the in same area (to get the cable from each other) later down the road u know?

Default You could probably make the cable if you really wanted to...

It seems to be just a serial connection that goes to a funky size jack. you could see if you could buy the jack that plugs into the car and then use a voltmeter to see which pins go where.

i have no idea if this will work or if you can even buy the right connector for the car, but you could always give it a shot at your own risk... or you could just buy it and save time.

Default There is a little more to the cable, than a straight through intrerface.

It has an isolation circuit with opto-couplers. I have made one and have the parts to make 2 more. I can sell you the parts for $50 or so (have to see what I paid for them) or the cable for about $75. The only problem is that I am swamped at work right now and am going away the 2nd week of August, so I can't promise a quick turnaround if you want me to do the soldering.
