Default for those who have pulled the engine in a tight garage - how much room do i need in front

of the vehicle? i have a pretty small one car garage and i'm hoping it's large enough for my engine pull.

all advice would be appreciated.

Default back it in so that the front faces the door... end of issue.

Worst case is you have to open the door when you have the motor on the engine hoist.

Default yeah - here's the part that sucks - the driveway leading up to the garage is an incline.

too steep to manage the engine hoist

well you could build yourself a wedge out of 2x4 and plywood to extend the garage if needed

Default You need about 4 feet up front to pull it out. I had a similar situation, where we had little room.

So we backed it to where the engine cleared the frame rails and then turned her sideways.

Default how difficult is it to manage the engine on the hoist by oneself? also how much does the tranny

weigh? i'm doing clutch too - is it tough to manage the weight by oneself?

Default Moving the hoist is easy. It can be done with one person, but there are certain steps that would be

really helpful if you had a friend... I'd pull the engine out with the trans, then take off the transmission once it is all on a platform.

Default 2nd that, also helps to have someone underneath the car pushing up on the trans to

clear the subframe when you're ready to pull it.
