Those who learned to drive stick on their s4>>>>

Well, IMO, it's easier on you than on the car.
What I mean is that the S4 is pretty hard to stall out,so it's fairly easy to learn on. But typically, new drivers will slip the clutch too much and cause premature wear, and it ain't cheap to replace the clutch in the S4. It's better to learn on a beater car....buy an old Toyota for 500 bucks and learn on that. Just my opinion. Either way, you'll eventually be glad you learned to drive a stick!

I learned driving stick on an 01 SS Camaro 6 spd.
Funny ****, car is pretty hard to stall. Just rest your foot on the gas and start releasing the clutch. The car has so much torque that it will pick up speed and you can release the clutch. The S4 is very similiar. Just rest your foot and slowly release the clutch.
My M however is the biggest bitch. You gotta rev it then release the clutch. Let go too fast, and you will cause it to clutter and jerk. Dont give enough gas and its can be pretty embarrasing.

aint no thang...
all your stalls probably wouldnt add up to one badly timed launch ive toasted the clutch pretty well on my s4 and its still solid.. just needs a few days to recover if u burn it too much

You will never go back to automatics
The S4's manual transmission, aside from being a bit notchy, is quite easy to handle. The clutch seems just right ... not too soft (unlike the BMW 330i). Switching to a short shifter I think is a must though. It makes the shifts much quicker and crisper. It should be your first mod.
For a newcomer to manuals, it's pure luxury. You will likely never go back to automatics.
