With a manual tranny, does the gas cut off and take you all the way down to idle rpm's when you hit the redline?
Do you bounce around on the redline for a few seconds, and then does it take you to idle?
Am I wrong all together?
For those of you with experience, please run me through the paces of the red line fuel shut off sequence, and how it effects your driving....

Tanner is right, you can hold it against the limiter...
For example, on the track if you run out of rpm on a short straight where an upshift would be a waste of time you can hold it against the limiter for a second or so until it's time to squeeze on the brakes. It'll stay against the limiter there as long as you keep your foot down.
It's not a dramatic event.

Did you find that was true with stock chip as well?
I've not spent a lot of time on the rev limiter, but the one or so time I've hit it, it seemed I dropped a few K rpms.
