my experience the AMS code doesn't adapt as well to higher octane...[M]
and the modifications of upgraded intercoolers or downpipes, as GIAC X but it is still strong nonetheless. If I were to bring my car back down to stage 1 or stage 2 I would definitely throw AMS back in. If you're looking for the most flexible chip there's no question its GIAC X, but if you're looking for something smooth and not quite as powerful AMS is a good way to go.

when you say it doesnt' adapt well to different octane....i believe you need to clarify
that the cutoff where it does not seem to gain anything extra is ~95 octane (according to historical posted data...i'm going by memory here). all bets are off if this is a euromarket chip and not the AMS (ABT based) USA code..

Do it, as long as that includes the whole ECU
I doubt there'll be any statistically significant difference between this chip and GIAC X on M-box (in terms of power/torque). Plus, AMS tends to be a little less spikey. If anyone can prove otherwise, please post data!
Unless you plan on doing a homebrew stage 3 anytime soon, you won't regret going with AMS.

well when he said he runs 93 in NJ I assumed that stating higher octane [M]
would imply that if he were to run an octane of 94 or higher he would not see significant gains...
