Default Tip owners - inadvertant shifting into neutral in Drive mode?

Do any of you ever forget that you are in D mode and then try to upshift? I did this this morning and found myself in neutral. Why is it that the shifter is able to move into neutral just by flicking it upward (i.e. without my pressing the button)? Is this a defect on my car?<p>2000 Silver S4

Default Its normal, and a pain in the ***, I do it all the time.

Stupid design, IMHO. I just stopped using automatic, because I kept banging the rev limiter when I did it under heavy accelleration.

It is normal. Most automatics can be shifted directly into neutral from drive

Default Done it a couple times...

I did it a coupe of times when I first got the car! I've gotten a lot better at remembering which mode I am in, I still do it every once and a while. If you were accelerating when you did htis, an important thing to remember is to let off the gas before you switch it back to D. Otherwise you end up doing a neutral drop!

The LS 400 has the buttons on the fron and back side of the wheel -- no confusion turning

So, in auto mode the buttons are still active? That seems like a huge oversight by engineering!
