Which tire: (a) S-03 or (b) Kuhmo ECSTA 712 for half the price of the S-03?

I researched and inquired ont eh board a very similar question
I got email and postings that basically said the S-03 is the *****-out total performance buy with few compromises, but it is pricey and I was given 10,000 - 15,000 mile treadwear estimates in a spirited driving/commuting situation, no track.
The Kuhmo's have gotten great reviews from users. I understood owners to day they were better than the stock P6000 or Potenzas most S4's came with. no feedback on vs Michelin Pilots some had. Lower price, better treadlife.

Do you put sub-par fuel in your car, O. K. then, why put sub-par tires on...
Tires are the single most important handling aspect of you car that can effect your braking and emergency maneuvers. It's your choice, but I feel better having the best shoes for my baby...

So, you only run race gas through your tank?
Of course you don't :-P. "Par" shouldn't be defined by reference to the "best" product on the market (assume that the S-03 really are the best). "Par" is better defined by reference to an average standard - like the stock tires. Take my P.O.S. P6000s for example. From the reviews I've come across, the 712s would seem to be a better tire, hence, "above par", an "upgrade".
But enough semantics: isn't it possible that the $600 differnce in price (which will need to be spent every spring) might be better spent elsewhere?
I agree with you that the tires are the limiting factor in many situations; that's why I'm considering the S-03s. It just comes down to a value judgement, and there's alot of value to be extracted from $600.
Thanks for your input.

Kumho's offer a good value for a performance tire which doesn't perform very well and
perhaps you are wearing a Camry on the front of your car because of lack of braking ability or tire grip (I don't know). The responses that you have seen about the Kumho are typically given in comparison to worn out tires ,in which case, any tire would be better. I would prefer the RE040's or Pirelli's rather than the Kumho's any day

That makes the decision easy:
if they are worse than the 070s or P6000s then I won't touch them.
But Luke, if that really is the case, then perhaps they should not be listed on Tirerack.com as being in the "Ultra High Performance" category.
Aww, screw it; I'll just buy two sets of V700s each summer.
