Tire treadlife question. Can someone tell me how much more life the blizzaks have in them? TIA.

Default get a tool to measure it

For winter tires, when you hit 5/32" of an inch, they become no better than all seasons.<ul><li><a href="http://www.toolsdirect.com/presentationpage1.cfm?pagename=productdisplay&amp; manufacturer=Campbell%20Hausfeld&amp;productid=AU1 080%20&amp;finish=NA&amp;source=froogle">Like this one</a></li></ul>

They are done. Winters need much more tread than that. Unless you want all seasons.

Default You'll get another 5-8K out of those.

The LM25's don't have a dual layer compound...it's the same throughout, but I believe you'll start to see that siping disappear in around 5-8K (kinda looks like it's starting). When that happens, traction will start to diminish. The tread depth will also start to get too low to be very effective in deep snow.

Default 1/4in = 8/32 so between 8-10/32nd left. So a decent life left I would think

I got very scientific and taped off the upper part of the penny and measured down to the bottom. It's a little over 1/4 of an inch so I'd say anywhere between 8-10 32nds are left on any one area of the tire. Not sure what they came with new but a snow I'd guess 12/32nds.

They look decent if you are looking to pick up a set for winter use.

I agree. Sharp edges give winter tires their grip. The edges wear before the tread blocks

Thanks for all the responses -- so it seems that at 300 + shipping for all 4... it's no deal?

Default You're considering buying these?

Skip. Definitely skip.

Summer tyres I'll run until the cord shows. But you need to toss winter tyres when they are half worn. Those are done.

Aren't you in Connecticut? What size do you need? I have some 205/55R16 Hakka 2's that I don't need and which have more tread left on them than those. You could have them for basically tree fiddle. :-)
