Torque Converter Problem?

I was riding in a friends tip S4 last night and he had mentioned that everytime he "brake torques" to take off quicker the car basically won't produce any boost until he lets off the accelerator and presses back down again. He did it at a light and the car didn't produce any boost at all until he completely let off the gas and pressed again. Is it a torque converter problem, a driver problem, or can Tip's not really be launched using brake torquing?

Isn't that a programming problem?

Im not sure, but the ECU may not allow you to brake torque (they don't want any "unintended acceleration" lawsuits)... here's a test: try the parking brake
