transmission help needed asap
hello everyone i'm new on this forum and i'm in a serious need of help, today i tried to change just the fluid transmission of my '98 audi a4 1.8t quattro, i was doing this by following the manual, i believe i have a automatic transaxel which according to the manual that's where the filling hole is, but when ever i try to put in the fluid it just comes out like it's already full, it would take in a little bit more when it's in reverse, what am i doing wrong? also i already drained the old fluid

Important first step is to determine whether you have a auto tranny or a manual. Fluid and procedure is totally different between the two.
If auto it is much more involved than just draining old fluid and putting in new. Pan needs to be removed, filter changed, and magnets cleaned inside. The fill procedure requires a laptop and VAG-Com software to get fluid at proper level.
