Default True or False: supercharging an NA motor puts absolutely no additional stress on the motor

Some guy on 6speed is trying to make the statement that supercharging the 997 s, with an 11.8:1 compression ratio, will not put any additional stress on the motor. I told him otherwise, and he doesn't believe me...

So, what do you guys think? I'm trying to figure out how increasing the compression ratio isn't any harder on the motor...

Yah, they are great - but you can't expect the engine to be just as happy

Default False. - No pain, no gain. ;)

Unless the pistons/rods/crank get hit harder by increased combution pressures, there won't be any power gain.

It'll be happy if you build the engine accordingly with proper compression ratio and forged goodies.

Right, this guy meant just bolt one on and go - no internal work at all

Default Do link to the post please. He is totally clueless. While the porsche internals are likey strong

enough to handle it that CR is way to high to sustain even low boost pressures without dramatic pulling of timing.

negative boost no extra strain at all.
