Default UUC VM2 construction techniques...(long)

Correct me if I'm wrong here Ben/Rob.

As you probably already know, the VM1 is a hand built. What that means is that no two exhaust are going to be exactly alike. The builder might have good days and bad. This would be the case with a hand operated mandrel bender also. The beauty of the VM2 is the CNC process.

I'm sure some of you are familiar with CNC machining. Some may not be. In a nut shell, you feed coordinates to a computer that controls a machine tool that create the part. In the case of the VM2, a flexible 2.25in tubing was used on my car to find the perfect fit. Then a laptop connected to an articulating arm type contraption with a sensor on it was used to take measurements at various locations along the tube. This data was then translated by the software into a tube diagram with all of the appropriate angles and their respective values. The operator takes this data and feeds it into the CNC mandrel bender, pops in the stainless steel tube of the right length, and 3 seconds later you have a perfect exhaust pipe. Once they save the file in the bender, they can crank out hundreds of these in a matter or hours. All exactly alike and again-perfect. To my knowledge the company that UUC has contracted with is one of the few places in the country that uses this high end (It's >300k!) type of machinery to produce one-off, or specialty exhaust products. Most of these machines are used by large manufactures to produce millions of products.

Everything is made in-house except the clamps which are of aircraft quality. I was told by the owner that the resonator design is a dyno proven hp generator! Instead of causing restriction, it actually improves flow by creating a vortex that accelerates the flow.

Very cool stuff. You will be amazed by this product.

A comment on the post below comparing the VM1 to the MTM unit. The MTM unit is polished, where the stainless in the VM1 is not. Obviously, this is reflected in the price. Once you see the UUC exhaust and understand the improvements it brings to the system, you have to wonder exactly what the MTM does besides shine. It is the exact same config as the stock exhaust-2 into 1 and dual resonators. It may have less restrictive resonators but thats all I can see. You are most certainly getting more for your dollar with the UUC products.
