V1 saved me on laser tag...
Was driving 80 in 60 zone in Washington State where the cops are speed *****. Came around a bend on Route 8 between Aberdeen and Olympia. Immediately got nailed with laser. Hit brakes semi-hard right away, slowed to 60 before laser tag was complete (within 2-3 secs I think). It was a 3/4 mile stretch to the cop car. She (female cop) was out of her car and tagged me twice more doing 60. Each tag was about 5-6 sec long. Didn't get pulled over. She didn't even look at me as I drove by.
Anyway it's a data point. I thought for sure she was going to direct me to pull over, since I'd always heard that V1 Laser (or any laser detect) is "FYI, you're screwed..."

The V1 didn't save you. It takes a fraction of a second for the laser to register your speed.
You were just lucky. But it did prevent you from speeding up or anything stupid like that.
I really wish someone like Valentine would come up with a viable laser detection solution.

viable laser detection? I think the cost would be to high
laser just doesnt scatter like radar, I think too much R&D would have to go into a early laser detection system, and Im not its even that possible.
laser jamming is where its at Im guessing, or where R&D should be.

even thought it doesn't scatter, maybe she wasn't trained well to use it.
maybe her first reading wasn't good (or she thought it wasn't) i've read alot of readings how its very difficult to use, and not 100% accurate anyways. either way he was lucky no doubt.

I-5 in Washington State is the pits these days
We played tag on Sunday - at least I got a smile out of the cop when I nailed my brakes. I must have made his day, as he didn't bother to get in his car and give chase.
