Default V1 saved me from a speeding ticket but....

Friggin LAPD officer gives me a citation for not having a front license plate even after I explained that I recieved a citation last Sunday. I did not have a copy of the ticket on me so he gave me the ticket b/c the ******** did not trust me. He mad me wait 15 minutes while he verified my license and registration.

I told him four people drove by without front license plates while I waited. The ******* said he would try and catch as many violators as possible...I asked him if he had anything better to do than catch people without front plates...of course he did not respond...what a friggin tool!!!!

Default I KNEW it I KNEW it....

see? They are on a mission because of the traffic cameras that are becomming popular and some cities have "declared war" on no front plates. When the line of plateless S4s (and me) were at that "West LA Cluster F**K" car thing, I made up my mind that I don't care WHAT it looks like, it's just too risky and gives the cop yet ANOTHER reason to give me a ticket.

Sorry, doesn't help with your situation but just put the plate on. Did you know that in some cities METER MAIDS can write front-plate tickets now? Who wants to worry about that?!?!?!?

Default Pr*cks, every last one of them!

I don't know. Perhaps there are cops who frequent this board. I doubt it though. And I don't really care either. These people are mostly sociopathic idiots with a beef and no I.Q. to speak of. Who would aspire to be a cop in the first place? The pay sucks, it's dangerous, and nobody likes you. They live in their own self righteous little world. I can't believe that any human being would actually want the job of giving people a hard time. It's one thing to enforce the law, and I don't have a problem with that. We absolutely need these morons to protect us from bad people. I just wonder why they find the need to be such ****** while they're doing it?

Default oh I know some cops...

and maybe a disproportionate number are a bit uh..."off" but the other ones got into it because they had a strong sense of wanting to HELP people and they spend a large part of their day helping wash bodies out of cars that have crashed at intersections (where most fatal accidents happen) and despite those cameras largely being installed for revenue raising, the cops feel that 1. they help traffic, 2. they reduce accidents (debatable) and 3. if you take off your front plate, you MUST intend to run intersections.

So you DO look like an a**hole to the cop because you are flaunting the "law".

Its all how you look at it. You can go along way with not actually antagonizing a cop even when you've been pulled over. Aftermarket exhaust....lowering...no plate...stickers...all this stuff sets off alarms in the cops mind and he is unlikely to be your "buddy".

I have done some TERRIBLE speed infractions and been caught but I have to say that in nearly all cases the cops were courteous, reasonable and doing their jobs and I got caught...there was a law...I don't expect to be let go scott free every time (though it HAS happened) but when you get pulled over for drag racing and you were close to 100mph and the cop writes you a ticket for speeding at 75+...I dunno, I'm glad cops are there and I expect to pay for my blatent disregard for speed laws and I'm glad that the non-driving morons I routinely see are as likely to get pulled over as I am.

Cops react like anyone else and some react worse than others. I'm still glad theyre out there and try my best not to give them a hard time when they're doing their job. I mean, you DO get caught and "just cause everyone else is doing it" means that they'll get caught too eventually.

Default FACT: A front license plate increases the accuracy range of police radar by several hundred feet...

Nothing quite like a big shiny metal object to aim at, that just so happens to be just about perfectly perpindicular to the radar beam the police are shooting at it...

Until my state (MA) starts using cameras, I'll continue to risk it with my plate in my trunk...
