Default Valentine problems

Hi there,

I have an 05 S4 Avant with Premium package. I'm having a problem with my Valentine, getting constant false alarms.

The constant alarms always come from behind. The Valentine is hardwired, mounted correctly just below my rearview mirror.

I tried turning the compass off in the rearview mirror. That seemed to help for a about an hour, then alarms came back on. I've tried turning off the auto dimming, but that doesn't help either. I've had the Valentine for about 2 years, it worked perfectly in my tt. Perhaps the something in the rear window is setting it off?

Has anyone else had trouble with their Valentine in an 04 S4 with Premium?

Anybody have any clues as to what the problem could be? I thought perhaps it was wired wrong, but I don't see how that could be a problem. I checked the Valentine site, as long as it's wired to a 12 volt fuse, it should work fine. I'm also going to call Valentine tomorrow, see if he has any clues.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Default I had a similar problem shortly after I got a new cell phone (Sprint).

Turns out the damn thing is connecting with the towers every 5-10 seconds, and setting off a false x band on the V1. Nothing I can do about it.

The other thing I would check is the parktronic feature. See if you can pull the fuse on it, and see if that makes a difference.

If none of the above make a lick of difference, I would probably consult Valentine, and/or send it in.

Default Is it X Band that's going off?

If so, then just deactivate X band altogether unless you're from Jersey or Ohio(i think that's the other state that bought a bunch of x band guns recently). Other states don't use it anymore basically.

Default It is the sprint phone. I had the same problem....

I did not have the problem in Chicago, but ran into this problem in KY. Keep your cell phone off or down low.

Default I experienced the same thing...no issues with my phone out in Chicago...

But as I traveled home, somewhere around Harrisburg and east, the phone would start setting off the V1. Has something to do with their towers I suspect, but I don't understand the connectivity protocols used for cellular phones, so I'd just be guessing.

Default Re: Valentine problems

It's the K band that's going off all the time. It's always from the rear.

I have a Sprint phone, but that's not it. I just tried it without the phone in the car, same problem.

Maybe it's not grounded?

I would talk to valentine, and they will probably suggest you send it in for service.

Default Re: Valentine problems

The Valentine1 does not work with XM radio in a 05 S4 Wagon. It does however, work with Cirrius. I took my S4 back to dealer, swapped my XM for Cirrius, the Valentine works perfect (whew!).

I called Valentine and they confirmed that they're having trouble with XM radio in the S4's.

No word on whether or not a fix is in the works.

Default LOL! Good to know.

Incidentally, I think the onus might be on Valentine. The issue I mentioned with my phone...not a problem with either of the Passport 8500's I've owned, just the V1. Seems to be Valentine needs to refine their filtering.
