Default Very loud rattle coming from right rear of car......(H&R coilovers)......

I plan on taking it in to Hartmann Motorsports to have them check it out. Even though they aren't the original installers, (original installer was an audi tech that I lost contact with). The rattle sounds like its coming from below the quarter window. Could this be something that I can fix here at my house without a lift? The noise has been occuring for a little while now but lately has gotten VERY loud, both in and out of the car,(pedestrians turn to look as I drive or pass by).

The rattle isn't constant though. Before it would take a serious bump or pot-hole to get a very faint rattle. But has now gotten much louder with any little imperfection in the road setting it off. Could this be the infamous "H&R Rattle" thats been going around?

Also, does anyone know a good shop to have my fenders rolled (and liner trimmed) in the SoCal (preferably in the "909") area?

Thanks for all the help.

And ofcourse the obligatory eyecandy pic....

Default Look Under the car, If there's a dark oily grime on the shock then you've blown a shock.

If not you probably have a loose bolt. Probably the upper mounting bolt.

Default It's likely that the installer didn't tighten the hat enough on the shock body

if you don't take care of it, it'll get worse. We ended up throwing some loc-tite on the rear so it would hold. No more noise!

Default could you give more details on this place?

i.e. where its located, (from the area code I'd imagine its some where in the Diamond Bar area?). What their address and phone number are. And if they have any experience with S4's.

Thanks!

Default no oil or grime on the shock. I'm pretty sure its the upper mounting bolt. Anyway "I" can fix this?

would I need a spring compressor? (I'd imagine so.)

Thanks!

Default I'm pretty sure thats the problem.....

I already tried tightening the "through" bolt as per Todd's directions https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/290133.phtml (thanks AC S4!). But it didn't fix the rattle. Leaving me to think that it IS the upper mount smacking around in the housing, (I tapped on the housing and heard a slight rattle). Would this be something that can be easily fixed at home using a jack/stand, and some common tools? Or would I definately need a spring compressor?

Thanks!
