Default VIDEO/AUDIO of engine sound

Sorry it took this long, just took a ride to my car and recorded some video of the problem. To those who have been following the problem, thank you very much for all of your help so far.

Yes, the video is dark but doesn't matter - really took it for the sound. Forgot to rev it a little for the video, but the frequency of the tapping increases with revs.

Bad Engine Sound

Default It sounds like there are two noises.

There is the obvious tapping noise, but there is also a more constant raspy scrapping noise. Sorta like an alternator with a shot bearing or brushes. Or like when you step lightly on bad brakes. My guess would be bad TB roller somewhere or the serpentine tensioner/roller.

The tapping sounds almost like the N75 or N249 cycling, but extremely loud. (I forget which one makes the noise, but it is usually much quieter.)

Might be worth it to try a mechanic's stethoscope to try to pinpoint more precisely where the noise is coming from. Local parts place should carry them.

Default first agree with gk1, sounds like 2 different noise, on the tick tick tick tick sounds

it does sound exactly like what my friend experienced, and the tick tick tick noise will increase speed as rpm rises! and he has same symptoms as you have too, mis-firing issue at the same time!

which cyl mis-fire the most? like my post eariler we changed his coil pack boot and it solved the issue, tick tick tick noise went away right away

Default

Cylinders 1 and 6 are the two that are misfiring the most.

Default There are definetly two noises.

The tapping is the more sharp of the two, and the other sounds like a tensioner or waterpump but is not nearly as sharp, especially in person.

Default Interesting. Doesn't sound quite the same, but not too unfamiliar.

No misfires though? I can FEEL the misfires and read them through VAG-COM. Cylinders 1 & 6 mostly. No codes or CEL.

Default I know it doesnt sound right, but at least no hurt to check,

can you check your coil pack, pull the rubber tube down, look at the tip of the actual coil pack and then kind of compress the rubber boot like how you squeeze a straw, and see if there is any cracks!

I really really hope it is something very simple!

oh on the second noise, have you check the aux belt roller, there is a bracket there is that thing broke?
