VM3 is toast...need new exhaust, any suggestions?
I was on 95 South this week and was unable to avoid a 2x4 in the middle of my lane with traffic on both sides, so I took it down the middle of my car and...oops Ya it caught my muffler and tore it to shreds.
I took it to Lou's and he almost cried when he saw the damage it did and then told me I needed a new one.
So I've gotten sick of the VM3 and now I want something new under the $1k price range. I was considering the G2, but with all this talk of the pipes not tappering down from 3"s I'm not sure about it. However, SPP does have a nice GB going...$550 shipped
Looking for something agressive, but definitely toned down from the VM3...whatchu guys think?

when you think about exhaust flow in the big picture.....do you really think that taper means
anything? maybe .0001% horespower. talk to a man on here named VONK. he will tell you all about gas flow and i think he will agree that the taper is not crucial. hell i think even fletcher will agree with me....he is also a guru with this stuff.
your main worry should be going form a dual to a single. but if you look at your vm3, you will see that had wuite a taper too. so basically i think the neuspeed is still in the game for you, but i love the AWE duals tips.....mmmm polished tips.
good luck

Then what's the point of having that big 3" pipe if it necks down to 2.25" in more than one place?
Please elaborate or get the great "gurus" to asplain it to us feeble minded.
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.

I found this to be good reading on exhaust design theory...

i know vonk would explain, eric is more than difficult when you want to get info out of him
but if you do a search there are explanations.
i think it has something to do with the process of exhaust cooling......as it cools you want to keep it closer together to haev it move more freely out of the pipe.
for instance a 3 in downpipe, to a 2.5 inch stright, and finally a 2.25 section out the back.
or in the same sense dual 2.25's y'ed into a single 3.00. 3.0 is not double the 2.25 which is what you would expect, but it is what would be closer to ideal cuz you doi not want th exhaust to cool as much as having a 5 inch exhaust.
i think, those guys explain it better, i am learning as i go.
