Well, *this* is disappointing...hope it's a fluke (German road test of new S4):
They got 5.7 seconds from 0-100 km/h. That'd barely make it any faster than the B5...sounds to me like something is wrong.

<a href="http://www.auto.t-online.de/AU/DE/de/homepage.jhtml?navi_param=test_technik&news_ne wsart=autotests&area_navigation=einzeltests&am p;report=bericht_01&repId=%2FAU%2FDE%2Fde%2Fco ntentrepositories%2Fde_de_singleTestReportRepo

magazine tests of the b5 got 5.6 sec, iirc. audi is usually conservative in those #'s.

psssst! ....... the new S4 is FAT ..... ~300lbs HEAVIER than B5! Engine weight
isn't the only factor ya know.
By your reasoning, the A8 with the 4.2 should be faster because the engine weighs the same as the 2.7t.
??????????????????????

And for the click lazy:
"The old B5 S4 in European trim weighed in at 3,328 lbs. - 332 lbs less than the new one. Expect the U.S. version to be even heavier than the European version."

The new engine weighs the same as the 2.7T .. Now ya figure
all in all the car should weigh about the same because it is roughly the same size as the B5, and what more could have been added to make it weigh so much more?!... Obviously the line of thought you presumed I was taking is off a bit .. I translated the article to broken english and scanned through and from what I could surmise it was an overall positive article. Look, our cars weigh quite a bit, but they move.. I'm sure the new S4, as heavy as it is, will move just as well.
