Default Went to the Mission Drags! I arrived kinda late so I only got to do 2 runs.(more)

Here are some numbers from my timeslip.

r/t: .968
60': 1.951
330: 5.758
1/8: 8.925
mph: 78.89
1000: 11.620
1/4: 13.872
mph: 100.48

I think my start could have been better. This was from my second run. The first one I got 13.955@98.94mph. The temperature was in the low twenties (celsius).
I might have been able to do better if I had more runs. I'm hoping to hit somewhere closer to the mid thirteens. I may go back tommorow.

Default great 60 foot times! and...

you gotta go on the third yellow. If you wait until anywhere near where you see green, you’ll get those .9+ reactions. .5 is perfect, means your car broke the beam at the exact moment the light turned green. This doesn’t effect ET, just the outcome of the race.

Your trap speed can be converted to HP at:

Good fun! Thanks for the post.

Default Pretty accurate BUT...

The trap speed can vary due to the way it’s calculated. It’s not a speed taken from a point, it’s an average between two points and different drag strips measure it differently.

More likely is that you’re off in your weight calculation...you gotta remember curb weight, PLUS you, PLUS gas. My tip came out to something like 3850 pounds on the low end. If you underestimate the weight, you get a lower HP because it takes more HP to get a heavier car to have a higher trap speed. My GIAC stuff worked out to 306 HP.

Default according to: http://members.aol.com/topfiero/math.htm

The 2 calculators give me different results when the HP number is constant.....i -looks- like with a 98.80mph trap speed....i should have run a 13.79 with a 3750lb car (gas, me, corndog...etc)
-Cheng

Default That second calculator is wierd...I think it doesn’t account for friction or wind resistance...

Cheng, you should have. Don’t underestimate the effect of 100 degrees and 3600 feet of density altitude. A 14.0 in those conditions should easily be a 13.8 in cooler...lower conditions.

The other calculator works backwards...ie you would “have” to have that much power to get the car through the trap that fast so tells you what your speed is given wind and rolling resistance.

The prediction is *****...though if you put in heavier and higher power numbers, it starts to make sense. If you put in a light...low powered car, it’ll give amazingly optamistic times.

Default A pro tree...

Once you get used to the pro tree it nice..

Look at the filiments on of the yellow bulbs.. Right when the start to glow HIT IT!

You have about 10 inches of roll out before the beam is tripped.

Default Interesting. Here's my best itme so far, with APR Stage 1 ECMS, K&N Panel and Scorpion Exhaust.

I am not willing to launch any higher than 3500-3800, because I get that woderful cruching sound we all love sooooo very much. How fast high up teh tach are you launching. The weather conditions were a little hotter where I was at, around 26 C.

Strange. JikJak's car leads for the first 1/8 mile, but then gives up it's lead. I weigh around 220LBS and the only other hinderance to the performance, besides heat, is that my gearing is a little taller (235/45-17's), compared to JikJak's (if he's running stock "footwear").

Seems like the MTM chip might be stronger down below, or maybe he's lauching harder. Maybe the taller tires are giving me the speed, maybe the APR chip is better up above, or maybe the Scorpion Exhaust free's up some HP up above.

Who knows. But it's intriguing.
