There are no true cold-air intakes out there for this car that I know of. AWE sells an intake, and there are a few other options out there, but I would recommend you save your money and invest it in something that will give you more bang for the buck.

Search darintake mod or something like that - basically cut holes in bottom of stock airbox n put mesh or something over it so u don't suck a cat up there

I had done that on my Mk.II GTI airbox.
Not sure how effective it was.
Sounded a little different, though.

yeah, so i did my research instead of buying a expensive *** Intake i dont think its really needed because most of the air comes from the Diverter Valve that circulates in it so i just bought those intakes from AutoZone the Spectre i think it will do the same thing

Uh...it sounds like you came to the right conclusion but with erronous information. The Diverter Valves don't increase the intake air volume, they simply recirculate air that is already in the system by dumping excess pressurized air from the charged end back into the low pressure end. If you need to increase the volume of intake air you need to create a less restrictive intake/filter system.

This is not very important on a stock S4 because the ECU program is configured to operate within parameters of the stock airbox capacity. The darintake is not a bad mod, even on a stock S4, because it reduces any restriction that might be present in the stock intake system. This is more important on a chipped S4 because the performance programs require significantly more air than the stock curve. Even then, the benefits are relatively marginal, but given that the mod is free....

I would stay away from the generic cone filters and I wouldn't bother trying to build your own custom intake unless you know what you are doing. You are more likely than not to decrease the performance of the car or to damage other components of the intake system, like the MAF sensor.

yeah my car is chipped, and the intake is doing at its bests and getting all the air, the MAF is in and everything is plugged in including all the sensors , i dont really think i need a expensive intake when this one is just going to give the same amount of air so i think im fine with it for now ....
