Did you get gas recently from a station you don't normally go to?
You could have gotten a load of crappy gas. This happened to me last week. I went to a new station, and they must have been putting regular in their premium pump. I was getting cylinder too lean DTCs. A DTC is a diagnostic test code and can be read by plugging in a laptop with appropriate software on it. The software is call a VAG tool. There are a few manufacturers that sell the software and cable to plug in a laptop.
I ended up looking at the message last week and had remembered that I tried the new gas station right before I got the check engine light. The light stayed on continuously. After determining that the gas was the problem, I drove enough to put in a can of actane boost, and then topped off the tank at my favorite station. The check engine light stayed off at that point. When I ran the tank dry, I filled it up at a known good station.
I always carry a bottle of octane boost in my trunk, as I travel to a lot of small towns that don't sell a lot of premium gas.....it's usually pretty crappy.
