What is the fix for driver seat play (search is down) m
My dealer is clueless, he admits there is a problem but does not have a fix for it.
Also, does the leather have to came off the seat if it is the seat frame? Details, please,
TIA

Yes, the fix is to replace the lower seat frame.
And yes, they have to take the coverings off of the existing frame and transfer it to the new one.
It's an expensive job, which is why a lot of service writers will give you pushback/"it's normal". Depending on your relationship with the dealership, you might need to press the issue with them.
PS: search is not down. I searched for "seat frame" and came up with a bunch of results immediately.

Re: Yes, the fix is to replace the lower seat frame.
Maybe I am missing something, but the play seems to come from where the whole thing seats on the rails, the part that is sliding back and forth and it is somehow in the side carpeting of the floor, next to the door sill, not in the seat itself, does that make any sense?
Anyway, what is the part number for that lower frame?
Thanks!

There is no fix...
My car has been in five times for this and the problem is still there. I've had the seat replaced twice, the frame rails replaced twice, and everything 'tightened'. On one of my trips they pulled the entire seat and rail assembly out of the car and put a new one in. This is expensive and time comsuming, but still did not work. I started with 1/8" play, got it down to 1/16" play, and now I'm back to about 1/8". The dealer has spent considerable time and money trying to fix this without success. The frame rail fix is a myth in my mind, as it did nothing to my car.

Every car is different.
The fix worked on my car, and it's stayed fixed for 8 months so far.
Sorry it didn't work out for yours. Have you had a different dealer attempt the fix?

In terms of general mechanics I definitely agree, but Audi techs are different...
They allegedly all have the same training and skill level. This is of course not true, but the tech who worked on my car is probably one of the best Audi techs in SoCal, so I don't think I can do any better.
