Default That Mobil One 0w40 meets more new standards than any other Mobil One...

...but what the hell do I or my turbos know about what they really like???? 5w30 must not have been making the turbos too happy last year. 0w30 didn't make the engine happy, and I really don't know if 0w40 did the trick either...

Default After talkiing with a fellow turbo craz'd owner it sounds like 5w40 syn.

he said that he 0 weight is just to light for my application. I've just got to remember to get up early to take the car in for the 7:30am appointment

Default OW-30 like the book says. I know that I will catch some flames for this, but just read an article

last night that Andy Hedin was kind enough to show me the link to. It says that unless you drive at sustainted speeds greater than 100 mph, 40 weight oil is not necessary as the engine will generate only 25% of the heat that it would at 100 mph+. Also, by putting in a thicker oil when you don't need it, you actually reduce HP. So, I'd stick with 0W-30 like the manual says.

Default That just doesn't make sense to me. Why would anyone try and save $40 on an oil change when you're

dealing with a car that cost $40K plus? Just change it regularly. I change mine every 3 months or 3K miles.

Also, don't know how true it is, but read an article about a year ago that said the auto manufacturers are penalized by the government if they don't reduce the cost of ownership. So, rather than making the real service intervals longer, they just told everyone they did. Result, no negative impact to auto manufacturers, damage to our cars. Could be bull****, but you know what, for $160 a year in oil, I'll change it every three months. Not worth it to me to take a chance on a $40K plus car.

Default I'll be running Red Line 5w-30 "High Performance Motor Oil, All-Synthetic Formula" in 9 days. hehe

They tested this oil against a stock Mustang Cobra that did 1/4 mile in about 14.2 with OEM oil and got 14.00 out of it. Not saying it's necessarily true, but it's at least a good sales-pitch =). Plus I've used it on previous cars of mine and it works beautiful.

Can't wait.

Default The advantage of AMS OIL over Mobil 1 is..

IMHO M1 seems to turn black within 1000 miles, perhaps it's starting to break down(?), while I can say AMSOIL remains brown through at least my 5k change, I change every 5K to be safe...
