What are some signs that a B5's milage has been rolled back?

only way to do it is a new cluster...........
look at things that show the use the most. look at the bumps on the pedals. look at the seats vs. how heavy the driver is. look at the steering wheel, is it soft and new looking in accordance with the alleged mileage? look at the paint, see if it has been repainted ect.

Look at the number to the Better Business Bureau to report their lying asses
Carfax is a good company but you might want to get a second openion. Try another companythat gives used car reports but in my experience, I'd stay away from this car, its got too many miles anyways.

ehh.. Ive heard of stories of carfax being completely wrong.
I just looked at my own VIN from my older A4 and it was completely off.
Ive heard of stories of an E46 M3 being reported as having 200,000 miles on car fax when in reality the car was only 2 years old.

"Tacho" clusters often appear on eBay.de. It means there exists the market.
these may be one of them...

The post by Rob O shows his nogaro S4 at 70k mile.
Shining steering wheel and worn seats are common in the pics, but I can not say the difference.

link for the post by Rob O on 2005-12-17

Find out where it's been serviced,
and check the mileage on the last couple of repair orders. If the seller won't provide that info, or the records themselves, tell him to take a hike for wasting your time.

I'm not sure, but the DMV might be able to help
I know when I registered my car I had to report the milage and whatnot. They probably wont have the current milage but if the car was registered with 100,000 and now it has 90,000 on it then that should ring some bells (unless he says he drove the car backwards for 10K :-p )
