What suspension should I put on my S4???
I own a 2000 S4 and live in Minnesota. I am interested in upgrading my suspension. What are the benefits between using coilovers or adding springs and shocks? Can I raise coilovers for the winter? I do not want something that I cannot drive in snow. Please let me know what I should do. Thanks

Coilovers are over rated IMHO and not necss!! Go w/ a Intrax/Koni set up for...
a great sport/stiff ride (no Honda bounce) and not too dumped. Seriously, I think it is the most practical performance set up going!! No need for the adjustability of coilovers on the street... again mine and many industry experts opinions. Plus this set up will save you $$$ over coilover. You will lower your car to 'two fingers or slightly less between the top of the wheel and fender. Good luck with what ever you choose.
Eric at Supreme will set you up big time if you go Intrax!!

http://supremepowerparts.com</a

I agree!
Although I don't usually have to drive in a lot of snow, most people that have lowered their cars moderately don't report any trouble driving through it. Just be sure you've got some good winter tires regardless!
If you want to go the adjustable coilover route you could give your S4 the "Allroad" look for the winter if you want, but you'd need to get four wheel alignments done twice a year - each time you change the height. IMHO, the only reason to go the extra cost for coilovers is if you are very seriously into running your car on the track and you need/want to corner balance the suspension.
H&R coilovers are a quality product, but expensive, and Shredster is right that the Intrax MC setup is really a terrific value.

I've got the Intrax and it's nice but a little bouncy...
I'd go w/ the H&R/Bilstein set-up...I've driven other cars w/ it and it's nice. Intrax is good for the money tho.
