Default What's the difference between 7A & 8J X files?

I switched back to the X sauce b/c I'm going K04 here soon and currently running the 07A file. What problems were people experiencing on 7A for GIAC to come out w/ new software? Was it TC specific or were there other problems as well?

Default new version man, L308x file. No TC. My v7A was killing me with TC

Bad. Even with MBC at 16, I'd watch the gauge cut back to 11 on a 3rd gear pull at around 5500rpm

Default obviously a new version but...

no TC? I think most mbox's are getting TC w/ the 8J file but I realize the new L30x file fixed the TC issues as reviewed by DocWyte and others.

I have yet to experience TC w/ the 7A file but my ECU has not fully adapted so I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Default It's funny, I had 7a for about 7 months, and it just suddenly

manifested itself. And it was really bad, I mean, as soon as I punched 3rd/4th, It would cut horribly. I lost several races because of it. Spent a long time logging/changing/installed MBC/and could not completely cure it.

As soon as L308X was installed, nothing. MBC currently set at 17/18psi, NO throttle cut at all. Admittedly, the aggressive early torque of GIAC's 7A software is gone. It doesn't really peak until about 4000/4500rpms now. But saying that, the car pulls HARD until 6500rpms. I'm still on K03's, so they run out of air, but the software is no longer the problem, the hardware is.

Default Mostly smoothness. I have 8 (not 8J) and refuse to use newer stuff as it seems to be less aggressive

If you're happy with 7A, keep it.

Also where do you get the files from??

Default It's flash. I had a 7a seperate GIAC ecu that couldn't be flashed.

Fortunately, I had a stock M box, they flashed that within seconds and put the original stock program in my old GIAC ecu.

I got mine from Avalon, who fortunately, are minutes from my house. If you have noone locally, look at Avalon or Jeff Moss@torque-factory

Ah ok cool, so you get the software from a GIAC dealer and flash with a vag com cable?

Default

I ran it on K03s for a couple years, loved it with MBC in the loop (parallel and only setups)....
