What's the timing belt interval for these cars?
I'm about to buy a 00' S4 with 59k miles (only 4k put on in the past 3 years). Should I have the belt replaced right after buying it or should I wait until 80 or 90k miles? Is the 2.7T an interference engine? What does labor typically run for a t-belt job? Is there anything else that should be replaced with the t-belt (e.g., water pump, tensioners, etc.)?
Thanks.
Thanks.

you should at the least have the belt checked for dry rot or cracks in the belt.. yes it will bend the valves.. yes you should have water pump and tensioners changed... will run between 1100-1600 for parts and labor...

Most people do it @60K. Cost ~$1000 w/ labor. About $300 if DIY. Most do...
The timing belt, idler roller, water pump, thermostat, tensioner roller, tensioner roller dampener, accesory belt. A few others I am forgetting. There are kits out there.
I did it earlier this year, took a full day with a good helper.
I believe your manual says do it at 90K, mine says 105K.
and YES...it is an interference motor. If it breaks, it will be very ugly...

Well, the water pump went out on my 4.2. Might as well do the timing belt. Anything else to replace?
