Who has both drove apr and giac?

I never understood in what situations people switched programs. Maybe you could explain it to me.
Maybe I understand valet mode, but why valet your car in the first place?
No need for race gas and pump gas programs when you have X IMO because X adapts well enough for it. You get more timing with X on pump gas than APR on race gas from what I've seen.
Why do you need stock mode? People say for warm-up, but why not just stay out of boost via pedal modulation. I've been doing that for years and it's quite easy. If you really wanted, you could swap in stock ECU whenever you wanted stock boost, etc. It's a good idea to have a spare ECU anyway.

Well, I used valet mode a fair bit, both for valet parking, which is sometimes unavoidable, as well
as anytime I drop my car off for service. I just dropped it off the other day for an alignment, and was wishing I could put it into valet mode on x. I used stock mode when I was taking long trips on the highway, as I got 1-2mpg better, and I wasn't going to be racing anyone with my better half in the car. I used 91 when I was in states or provinces that only sold 91 octane.

Same with me...
My father isn't with the whole concept of chipping and he thinks everything will break and yada yada yada. So he hasn't known for a long time until someone told him, still didn't find out who. GIAC chip is great because with the GIAC chip, you can get the stock chip module that can be switched whenever you take the car to the dealer, or have the old man drive it. It is kind of a PITA to switch it everytime, but it was only 50 bucks for the option. Saved my butt quite a few times thus far.

Sir. You are wrong Sir !
Both names are well used to refer to code developed by ABT of Germany, which was tweaked for US emissions by Marc@AMS.
Before AMS gained exclusive rights to ABT in the US, Champion Motorsports was distributing ABT products (using the code Marc tweaked for ABT), under the ABT name and logo.

Many folks have the original ECU's without the AMS logo.
No need to be an a$$, Sir.

I've driven both. When it came time to decide which I wanted to stay with (m)
I chose the APR chip. While the GIAC "felt" stronger, when I actually had to pass somebody on the road it didn't seem like there was much of a difference in pass time. I like the smoother acceleration of the APR, and I didn't worry as much about breaking a part with the less aggressive APR chip. APR seems to have a philosophy of designing for long term reliability - sacrificing some performance, which doesn't appeal to those looking to get as much power out of the car as possible, IMO.
Being able to switch to stock or valet mode is real nice when I need to drop the car off for service and somebody else is going to road test the car.
I'm still looking to sell my GIAC-X (H-Box), so if anyone wants it, contact me.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1900291.phtml">My previous post comparing these two</a></li></ul>

I've owned (or I should say, they've pwn3d me) MTM, APR, AMS, GIAC, and Sportec
If you're looking for flexibility to go stage 2+ and higher go with X, if you're going to stay below stage 2+ go with AMS.

I have driven both and soon will have both (EMCS and Flash-loader)..
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/44443/giac_x_vs_apr_ecus_adj.jpg"></center><p>The APR version seems smoother, but the GIAC has more power (see pic) in my car. I like to be able to change programs occasionally, so I have a new GIAC-X with flash-loader on the way to go with my EMCS APR ECU.
