Default Whoa, It is true... 93 octane in So. Cal.

hell has frozen over. 93 octane found in So. Cal., specifically south OC.

This <a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/461256.phtml" target="_blank">post</a> made me curious to find out if it was true.

According to the label on this gas pump, it is.
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/19404/mobil_93_octane.jpg" ALT="93 octane pump gas">

It is the Mobil gas station located in Lake Forest at the northwest corner of El Toro and Trabuco. The only two pumps that have the 93 label is pump 8 and 10. All others display the 91 octane label.

As you can see in the picture. The price per gallon was $1.71 which is the same at the 91 octane. The sticker on the gas pump is a plastic kind. Although offset from the 87 and 89 stickers, the same can be said for the 91 stickers on the other pumps.

I am still running stock boost so I assume not much noticeable benefit will be obtained. You guys running more than stock boost might want to give it a try and see how it may help your cars.

I hope it is true but I still have doubt it is a mis-labeled pump. One can only dream though right?

If it's the same price as the 91 octance I imagine it's just mislabeled. :-(

Default I doubt it....there hasn't been a 93 AKI out here for like 10 years or more

and mis-labeling the AKI, on a NEW pump like that

would be very stupid, not to mention that I "THINK", that the state
"board of wieghts and measures", are the ones who put the stickers on..after infrequent, random tests

Default Personally, I just like the "Gasoline" label on the pump...

It's sort of "Airplane!"-ish..

"oh.. so that's gasoline I've been filling my water bottle up with.. no wonder I kept vomiting up hot lava when going for a run... soo, where's the water?"

:P

Is 93 really rare in SC? Every station has it in the east regardless of the brand

Default From where we live, take El Toro northbound...

till you past the 5. About a mile or two north you'll hit Trabuco and the gas station will be on the left hand side past Trabuco.

If we meet up tonight, I'll take you all you guys there to see for yourselves.

Default Here is the main Mobil Customer Assistance center..

1-800-662-4592

Let us all know what you find out. I can get you the number to the specific station and email you if you want.

I am hoping it is true but still realistic that it isn't. Like you said, pretty stiff fines if a gas station mislabels a pump.
