Why does Audiworld have the new S4 info first?
I don't want to rub anyone the wrong way, but why would Audi of Germany release the New S4 info on this forum? I can't remember this happening before when a new european car is released. Why wouldn't Europe see it first, since the Auto Show is in Paris? If I were Audi I would think that releasing the photos/specs in America would undermine the brand and the vehicle.
In addition, after having owned a couple of the last S4's for a while and an A4 I suspect I will not buy the new S4. I seem to recall that Piech, who I realize is not in power any more, harshly chastized Audi AG for not being sporty or aggressive enough with recent product offerings. Then, in a redefining move they release the strong RS6, the Cab, and the A8 (perhaps a bit too much Phaeton). Rumors of a Sequential gearbox for the S4, rumors of E46-challenging horsepower from a new V8 under its hood... Audi releases nothing official. I like it... keep it quiet and then take us all by storm.. good strategy.
And this is what we have waited for? The chassis is there, the suspension architecture is there.. the body is in shape to be tuned externally. Surely Audi could have something better than this offering! The Avus one-offs need to be removed. The side skirts in black is an error IMO. Telematics with 4-spoke steering wheel needs to go. Use the 3spoke wheel and leave the buttons by the sunroof controls only. Car is heavy too. Yeah.. you've heard it before... I know. But how heavy is too heavy? When does Audi draw the line? My S4 was 3800 pounds with me in it.. that's approaching my limit.
That's my two freaking cents.

AudiWorld is a legitimate Audi news outlet...
...as such they receive Audi press releases BEFORE they are actually released to the public, so that when the time comes that the press release is authorized, AudiWorld can have it formatted and released/published immediately.

I still doubt the authenticity of the pics and specs personally.
Nobody knows when those were made and like you said, I seriously doubt they are going to "leak" that stuff to freakin audiworld before actually making an announcement themselves. Audiworld does not represent enough of their owners to justify this, sorry. Until I see something on www.audi.com I'm not buying it.

I Agree..Doesn't anyone remember this? ..
"Audi Zowie-While Audi has scrubbed plans for an A4 four-door sport coupe, it will build a proper two-door coupe from its new A4 Cabriolet. That A4 coupe will spawn the next S4, to bow this fall at the Paris show. Power for the S4, due in late 2003 or early 2004, will come from the A8's 4.2L V-8. Yes, it fits the A4's compact engine bay. In European trim, the S4's powerplant makes 371hp. Transmissions are a six-speed manual, six-speed automatic, or seven-speed sequential manual. The really hot news is a new RS4, coming to North America within two years, which will get the same 4.2L biturbo V-8 as in the upcoming RS6. That engine makes "a mere" 450hp. With the same manual transmission options as the S4 and a lower curb weigh, the RS4 looks to be quicker that the automatic-only RS6. Watch out, M and AMG!" - Motor Trend 8/02
