Default Because they are pretty successful in road racing and eyeing F1.
Or at least VW is. Skoda, which is part of VW is in WRC.

Rumored that Audi pulled out because of deaths in rally. Didn't want to be associated with it.

Default Because Audi doesn't want to be compared to econoboxes like the WRX and Lancer!
And because they are spending their money elsewhere....just like Toyota. :-(

Default They entered in the 80's to prove...
quattro would dominate. It did. Now, everyone runs AWD so there is nothing else to prove.

Default Sad. I'd love to see a gutted S4/RS4 run against...
What looks like very agile Citreons, WRX, Lancers, etc.. The way the drivers handle the car is simply amazing--talk about control!

Default I don't think the S4/RS4 would do very well...
due to its size. The A3/S3 would be better suited to the task.

but IIRC the Seat Cordoba is built of the A4 platform, as is the A3.
