Default Windsheild chips

Anyone else having problems with the front windsheild easily chipping. I have a 2000 S4 that I bought in OCT of 99. I have about 9 minor chips in the windsheild and 2 major ones.

Default Had two large ones repaired. It's all the little specs from road grit that really bother me.

I'm going to try glass polishing in a few weeks to see if that helps. The Audi glass IS really soft.

Default Be careful, took wife's A4 to safelite per insurance co and young

woman there was quite knowledgeable..Wife's car has a chip right in line of vision, my question was about getting "fixed" she said that the chip was deep and if I used something like jewelers rouge, it would make it worse as far as sun glint was concerned, and that the chip fixes they use just stop the damage from spreading, they are still visible, especially in line of vision.
she suggest that ins co would probably pay for glass because of location, my ded is 50 and I asked if she could get factory glass and YES they can. no additional cost. don't want a ppg windshield instead of the Audi insig.

Default I don't like SafeLite. Had a chip in teh wifes car fixed by them and it was

terrible, hardly better than without the fix. I eventually just replaced her windshield. Had two fixed in my Audi by an independent and all I can notice now is a pencil point spec. Like anything else, the result varies depending on who is doing the work. BTW, I like taking risk, so I have $500 deductable to keep premiums down! Guess that's why I wasn't worried about chipping. :-)
