Worker buddy with '04 Mustang GT Convertible w/aftermarket blower at 15psi.
The entire engine is getting rebuilt as well by a racing factory....don't ask....he's a bit of a tool to put all this work into a mustang convertible IMHO. Apparently he's spending upwards of $10k on the upgrades and rebuild.
He's claiming that he's planning to get about 550hp to the crank on pump gas....
Is this really possible? I'm planning on running with him when my Stage 3 setup is complete, which will be at least another month. His car is set to be back from the rebuild in a month, so our cars should be both be ready to roll by mid August.
You guys think I will lose from a rolling start?
I've just got your average Stage 3- setup right now, but with HSSSK04s (8-fin RS6 compressor wheels). I'm hoping to get ~380-400whp on pump gas when the stage 3 is completed.
Am I just asking for a beating by egging this guy on?

If the engine is getting rebuilt specifically for a blower application.........
then you could very well be F**KED. 15 Psi isnt really a big deal, its the size of the blower that matters. Superchargers can easily flow more cfm than a turbo, but they are significantly less efficient(they have to be bigger to produce the same gains) It is possible that for ten grand he could build the entire motor, maybe switch to 4 valve cobra heads, have some stupid big D1S race blower, and make 550 (or easily more) WHEEL horse. Unfortunately for that amount of money you can build a race car out of a mustang. Oh and with a built motor, all he has to do is hide the "bottle" and yer screwed! Good luck though, hope you win! Id love to see the video either way.

If the Blower has a intercooler setup your screwed.....
Superchargers heat the air quite a bit. 300 degrees on a roots style before the IC is not uncommon.
The lightning style intercooler will bring it to withing 20 degrees of ambiant.
No intercooler then there is no way he can run 15 PSI of boost on pump gas.

I had a 95 Mustang GT with a Vortec VQ pushing 12 psi....
With the supercharger along with many other mods I put down 493whp/478tq at the wheels on pump gas at a rich 12.5 a/f ratio. If I would have leaned it out a bit I could have squeezed another 15-20 hp. He could have all the horsepower in the world, if he cant put it to the ground it means sh*!.
