Default Would a noisy fuel pump change pitch?

I'm trying to diagnose a whine I've had for about a year now. Mostly it occurs at highway speeds, partial throttle, no boost. It's a consistent whine - doesn't change pitch when the engine load is changed; I can't pinpoint the location. Cold weather seems to exacerbate the problem.

Default Are you sure it's not your differential? I have a similar whine that only occurs between 60 - 80 and

it stops at 70 MPH. It happens in every gear in that speed range. It's damned annoying. Let me know if you find the culprit. I'll track this thread.

Default If you want I can hold on to the bottom of your car while you drive around

should be able to diagnose the problem from there...

Do you have any plan to come to MD? I'd love to have you underneath my car. :-P

Default hmmm...I hadn't thought about the diff

wouldn't the whine change pitch with speed though?

Next time I'm out I'll notice what speeds the whine occurs.
