I would check on navplus.us they have a lot of information regarding the installation of a RNS-E unit into a B5 S4.

I have not seen anything regarding the impact of an existing trunk mounted nav system. I would be intrested to find out what is required as far as removal of the old system for the RNS-E system to work, as I have it as well.<ul><li><a href="http://navplus.us">http://navplus.us</a</li></ul>

I've heard that the existing (BNS) nav interferes with the CAN bus signals that the RNS-E requires.
