Default Can't compare with S-03s, but I have the Yoks and am very, *very* impressed ...

I've logged maybe 3,500 miles thus far with a combination of city, highway, spirited twisties, and rain (including 150 mile trip in torrential downpours recently) and I'm surprisingly impressed with their overall capabilities. Tremendous grip in dry (even compared to my PZero Asimms) and proven capability in the wet. Noise levels are low so far, but, as with most max-performance tires, I expect them to get louder with wear.

I highly recommend the Yokohama AVS Sports ... a great value compared to the more expensive PPs. ; )

Default I had AVS sports, and I upgraded to the S03's. The AVS Sports were excellent tires. However

the S-03's are better in every way except price. Better feel, handling in wet and dry, and they have a much higher treadware rating (last longer).

Reverse. I have the S-03s, but no Yokohamas. Very good grip, quiet ride, great in rain.

Agree. I preferred my S-02s a lot more than my AVS sports in every respect.

Default Note that tread wear ratings are essentially meaningless between *brands* --->

UTQG treadwear ratings are not standardized and are a relative rating between similar tires from the same brand (manufacturer). They are not particularly useful for comparing tires of different brands as they are assigned by the manufacturer, not an objective testing body of some sort. Therefore, a 200 rating -- a tire likely to last 2x as long as a 100 (avg) rating -- for Bridgestone means little compared to a 200 for Yokohama.

Even so, they are also purely subjective and can vary widely from actual results based on driving style/use ... I achieved more than 25k miles from a set of P-Zero Asimmetricos even though they are rated at 12k-15k and some have seen less than 10k.

Finally ... FWIW ... I had fully intended to purchase S-03s, having seen similar comments to your's (Boss Hogg's), but a blowout put me in a predicament requiring immediate replacement and S-03s (or S-02s) were no where to be had locally. :-/

Default Had AVS sports went to SO-3's. If you can afford them get the SO-3"s...

THe AVS are great tires for the money, handle well in wet and dry, but they get really loud when they are wearing down. A constant whurring noise that gets annoying. I have only had the SO-3's for about 1000mi but they feel incredible. No noise, very high grip and very good in the wet. So if I know now what I knew when I bought the AVS, I would have gotten the So-3's from the start, only they weren't out yet 8^). Hope this helps.
