Z06 a middle age crisis car?

Z06 a middle age crisis car?
OK. My S4 lease doesn't run out for another 18 months. However, I've already started shopping and when I mention Z06 to my wife, she cringes - not because it is a 2 seater and we have 2 kids, not because it is $55K, not because the insurance will be sky high (i currently pay $450/year), and not because it is a fast sports car.
She associates corvette with camaro, mustang, etc. you get the picture...
Is she right? Is there any argument to change her mind? Should I be considering a different car? Another S4, S6, 540i, XK, or M Roadster come to mind.
Anyone have a Z06 that can tell me how it drive in comparison to S4? My only experience in driving it is with Project Gotham Racing on XBox. And, I can tell that driving it will be considerably different than a 4wd sport sedan.
Just looking for some feedback.

I have both, here's the deal....your wife will love it
my buddy also had a z06. he was in the EXACT same scenario as you as far as his wife's opinion was concerned. she was 100% down with getting a boxter. she thought the z06 was white trash. so he gets the z06 anyway and she was heartbroken when he sold it to me. it really is an awesome car. VERY fast. makes the S4 feel like a limo or something. i think it is well built too. a great choice if you are going to the track where it will be faster than 99.9% of any street legal car that shows up.

Another one for your wife.
I too associate vettes with gold chains, mullets, too much cologne, bad plug jobs and camaros.
Given that, they are pretty fast on the track but be prepared to do some minor mods to make them last a full session on the track. The Z06s that I've driven with on the track all suffered from high transmission temps that caused them to limp a bit.
