After a relatively mild, but firm, email to the sales guy for my car, he informed me that my car was due into port on 8/19; although our conversation today resulted in him telling me it has a hold on it at the port. Probably because the 2018's still haven't been released yet. Still, my original question to them about where my COMM# is is yet to be answered, but at least I know where it is. I also saw this on their website this morning and I'm pretty sure that's my car, even though it doesn't tell me much. Does have a VIN though too. Probably not helpful to anyone, but this has a painful process and hopefully it's nearing the end. Then it's on to the RS6 turbo upgrades!

There are many posts on the Rennlist (Porsche) 991 board concerning major holdups in ports due to lack of EPA/CARB approvals. Across all Porsch model lines. Apparently Porsche is already giving customers whose cars have been held up in port an extra month of free maintenance as compensation for the delay.

Could this be happening to Audi's?

I was finally told by my dealer that my car was built and due into port (San Diego) on 8/19. He then stated there is a hold at the port, but didn't say for what reason(s). Since I've already stated this dealership essentially refuses to communicate with me until I contact them, I don't expect to hear anything new and am hoping this forum will be a better resource than them.

Incredible. It has a bit more than mine, but that's a huge jump. I like night vision, but it's not worth that much.

I am pretty sure the problem is lack of CARB approval, assuming you live in Ca or one of the dozen or so states that are governed by the Ca certification.

As of August 19, 2017, according to its website, and going to "on road new vehicle and engine certification ", CARB had not yet approved the 4.0 engine used in the S6/S7/S8 for the 2018 model year. It looks like most other VAG vehicles have been approved.

For reference, the 4.0 engines for the 2017 model year were approved on July 1, 2016.

I have run into the same situation; I have a 2018 S8 that has been built, and probably sitting in port, but my dealer doesn't respond to me , either.

I used to be able to see my car on my dealer website and its status would be "Coming Soon". As of a few minutes ago, I'm not able to find my car, but it still shows up under my "Viewed" vehicles and has the status "SOLD". Does that mean anything to anyone? A sign that it's being released from the port by chance?

Also, yes, I live in CA.

Found the ARB approval for the 4.0T motor.

Here's to hoping our cars are released soon!

I just received an email from Audi informing me that my S8 arrived in the USA and I would have it soon. Then checked CARB website, and saw the Executive Order dated August 25 approving all of the Audi models using the 4.0 engine, including your S6 and my S8.

Enjoy your S6! Mike

Okay so I have a question, will the 2018s be C8 or still the C7?

I would expect they are C7.5 just like the 2016 and 2017. The C8 is due this time next year.
