Default BMW M 550i vs. S6?

Anyone cross shop the S6 to the new M550i? Saw the BMW at the New York Auto show on Friday and must say it looked very impressive and you could actually sit in it! Audi had all the new offerings (D5 and C8) locked up!

I just drove an M550 over the weekend, as the owner is trading it in to us (6 months old). Very nice car, very quick. Big discounts at dealers. BMW had it open because the car isn't new. That is pretty typical of all brands in my experience at the NY show

Is it AWD, like the M5? If not, and you want it, then it's at a big disadvantage. I never looked at Audi when I wanted RWD (due to its FWD-based AWD platform), but now that I want it, it was the best car for me... but I don't like all the modern videogame crap, so might be in the minority. I only had 1 BMW, an E92 M3 V8, and even after the previous gen I-6 had main bearing failures, it happened again on mine. Rather than get the engine rebuilt on my brand new car, traded it in at a huge loss and moved on, but never another BMW again. Haven't heard the new ones being much better, so I'll continue to pass on them. Hope this first Audi doesn't disappoint (knocking on wood. He he). But yes, at least BMW is taking a step forward with the new platform, and not backwards, like the last 2.

I have not owned a BMW, curious as I once thought to myself "well if Audi is stepping away from the V8's I'm going to have to consider looking at Merc or BMW for my future vehicle." I guess BMW is also dropping V8's in the vehicle line up?

I would love to hear more, as the M550 is on the shortlist to replace my S6. Didn’t have the chance to test drive it yet and noticed that not many dealers carry them in stock. A fully loaded M550 can be had for $85k which is similar to loaded S6, but my guess is the BMW will lease better. What kind of discounts are you seeing on the M550?

I am keeping my eyes on the Xdrive M550 because if audi in the C8 S6 does not give me A Incredible engine with GREAT sound Im out. I will get A M550 unless they bring some S and RS avant then I will never leave.. The M550 and the S6 are great cars cannot go wrong with either one

should be able to get 9% off the MSRP plus manufacture's incentives and rebates.

I don't know where you can get a BMW M5 for $85K loaded when the starting price is $102,600. https://www.bmwusa.com/byo.html#!/build/color/dlkeq48f
