Default Anyone know when the second turbo kicks in?

I read somewhere that the second turbo only kicks in at higher speed. I'm wondering if anybody knows if that's true and if it is, what speed does it start at?

You are misinformed. You are thinking of sequential twin turbo setups, which aren't really used much anymore these days. In those setups, there's a smaller turbo for low end power, and the second larger turbo kicks in for top end power. But the S6 and most biturbo/twin turbo configurations these days are parallel turbos. Each turbo feeds one of the cylinder banks. So parallel turbos are very common for V configuration engines. Particularly, the turbo setup in these engines is called Hot V turbo, as the two turbos sit nestled between the cylinder banks resulting in very short piping to virtually eliminate turbo lag. Both turbos spin up together.
