Q5 Pricing
Hi! Purchased a 2017 Audi A4 this past year as a factory order and love it! Thinking of purchasing a 2018 Audi Q5 Premium Plus.
I was reading some people achieved 12% off MSRP, which is around what I received off my A4 Prestige. I am in California and wondering if anyone could suggest a dealer in CA or NV/AZ that could offer that type of discount?

Most of the people who got a 10-12% discount got a car off the lot. There was one report that I saw of someone getting that discount for a custom order.
First dealer I went to said 4% was the best they could do and when I pressed them, they stuck to it. My wife found a dealer that would do 12% (after an in-person visit & test drive) and the first dealer claimed to not believe it at first, but then offered to match it. This was in the Greater Boston area.
I would think you could get 8% in most US markets without a huge effort.

While 6% may be the invoice price, please do not expect us to believe this is really what the dealer pays. The invoice price has grown even faster than msrp over the years. Between that, kick backs, and I would assume other programs, dealers are still making some money off of sales below 6%. Sure, the salesman/saleswoman may not get much after a certain point, but that's between then and the dealer. While 12 is unusually high, it wouldn't surprise me if it happened often enough. Some profit is better than no profit, no?

The dealer gave me the "6% margin speech"... I said "9% and we have a deal?". Dealer said "Ok". Took less than 3 minutes on the phone. Probably could have done even better based on how quickly he said "OK". For reference, this was in SF Bay Area for a "custom, fully loaded (every option) Q5 Prestige order", not an "off the lot Q5" last Saturday.
